Walter Vernon Gray, Jr., 85, of Lexington Park, MD died on October 13, 2006 at his residence. Born on August 13, 1921 in Forestville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Walter Vernon and Mary Maude Branson Gray.

Mr. Gray served in the United States Navy during World War II from June 1, 1942 until November 9, 1945. He married Lillian Henrietta Whittington on July 23, 1947 in Forestville, Maryland. He is a retired Prince George's County Road Department Chief Road Inspector and was owner and operator of Shady Oak Inn Restaurant in District Heights, Maryland.

He is survived by his wife Lillian H. Gray of Lexington Park, MD, three sons, Walter V. Gray, III of Okeechobee, FL, Paul L. Gray of Indianapolis, IN, Roland G. Gray of Ocean City, MD, two sisters, Rozena Miller of Frederick, MD, and Louise Crismond of Annapolis, MD.

The family received friends on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Funeral Service was conducted in the Brinsfield Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD at 12:00 p.m. Bishop McClean officiated. Interment followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, Maryland.
