She was also a cancer survivor for nearly five years and traveled extensively to give motivational speeches to those who are battling breast cancer. She was known for her homespun Southern humor, and her genuine interest and concern for everyone she met. Like Will Rogers, she viewed strangers merely as friends she had not met yet. She is also survived by a brother, James Carroll Christian and his wife, Patti, of Colorado Springs, a nephew Jay Christian and his wife, Melissa, of Colorado Springs, and a niece Janna and her husband, Chris Summerlin of Denver. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 19th at 3PM at Huntingtown High School Auditorium. Visitation will take place at 2PM. Arrangements provided by Rausch Funeral Home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church for a work in Chihuahua, Mexico commonly known as the "Soup Kitchen". To commemorate the deep passion Janice has held for the poor in Chihuahua, they have recently begun a new initiative to help the homeless named "The Momma Janice Project".
