Lois Mary Watson Shuffle, 90, of California, MD died October 14, 2006 in Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Frederick, MD.

Born May 21, 1916 in St. Helens, OR, she was the daughter of the late Chester Michael Hogan and Ellen Boyce Hogan. She met and married her beloved husband, Richard L. Watson, Sr. ("Dick") in St. Helens, OR. They moved to St. Mary's County in the early 1950's and enjoyed many happy years together in their house on the Patuxent River, where they raised three beautiful children, Dick, Mike and Patty. Lois loved the water and swam, water skied, fished, and crabbed. She also was fond of their garden and often exhibited the fruits of their labors at the annual St. Mary's County Fair. She lost Dick after 53 years of marriage. Later, she met and married Charlie Shuffle. She and Charlie enjoyed each other's company and a love of the ocean for a decade before he passed away. Lois lived life passionately for 90 wonderful years. Her spirit and energy led her to be an active participant in many groups and activities involving her children, her church, her community and her varied interests. She was a dedicated member of the Solomon's United Methodist Church and of the Sunday lunch group. She also was a proud member of the Eastern Star. Lois's humor and compassion touched all those whom she met. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Lois Lewis and husband James T. of St. Leonard, MD, two sons, Richard L. Watson, Jr. and wife Brenda Ganoe of Romney, WV, Michael Robert Watson and wife Geraldine of Annapolis, MD, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family received friends on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 in Solomons United Methodist Church, Solomons, MD. A Funeral Service was conducted at 10:00 a.m. in the church. The Reverend John Williams conducted the service. Interment followed in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
