Richard Joseph "Joe" Dement, age 45 of La Plata, MD, died on August 20, 2015 at his residence.

Joe was a goldsmith for 25 years at Talley Jewelry and enjoyed salt water aquariums, kite boarding, kayaking, camping, and archery but was most occupied with his custom jewelry designs.

He was the son of Richard Allen Dement and Rebecca Joan Johnson Dement. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Melisa Lawson Dement; his daughter, Madeline Nicole Dement; his son, William Allen Dement; and his sister, Jessica Lyn Dement-Brown.

Friends will be received on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 11AM until time of Funeral Service at 1PM at the Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.
