Charles "Chuck" R. Ellis, Jr. passed peacefully on August 13, 2015, at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD. Prior to returning to Maryland in 2013, he was a resident of Capon Bridge, WV. Born on Feb. 10, 1935 he was the son of the late Charles and Myrtle Ellis.

After high school graduation, he entered the Air Force where he was trained in electrical engineering. After leaving the Air Force, he worked with several contractors on the NASA Space Program. He was a San Bernardino County Sherriff in the late 1960s. During the 1970s and 80s, he traveled extensively internationally for the U.S. Government. Prior to retirement in 1997, he worked with the rail system upgrading electronics. His hobbies included model trains, wood working, jigsaw puzzles and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by the mother of his children, Doris Ellis; his wife, Jean Ellis; his former wife, Barbara Ellis; and his daughter-in-law, Cynthia "Cindy" Ellis. He is survived by his sons, Robert "Bob" Ellis (Tianne) and Charles Ellis (Tammy); four grandchildren, Mathew Ellis (Rebecca), Natalie Saucedo, Joshua Ellis (Megan), Nicholas Ellis and four great-grandchildren, Elena Saucedo, Isaiah, Josiah and Alayah Ellis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 11AM until Funeral Service time at 12PM at the Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD with burial to follow at MD Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD at 1PM with Air Force Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charlotte Hall Veterans Home (29449 Charlotte Hall Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622) or Hospice of St. Mary's (PO Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650). Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
