James Nathaniel Thomas, Jr. was born on August 13, 1952 in Charles County, Maryland to Berkaline Thomas and the late James Nathaniel Thomas, Sr.

June or Tamp, as he was more affectionately known grew up in Charles County, Maryland and attended Charles County Public Schools. After which he found a career as an automotive mechanic and a laborer until his health began to fail. He was a member of Shiloh Community United Methodist Church in Newburg, Maryland.

He enjoyed driving race cars, going to the track, restoring race car motors, fishing and after his health failed assembling model cars but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

June married the love of his life, Joyce Lynette Butler on July 17, 1979 and from this union two daughters were born. They shared 28 years of marital bliss until Thursday, April 10, 2008 when June left this life for one eternal in a fire which consumed his home.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Alice Thomas, brother, George James Thomas and grandparents, Garrett and Blannie Thomas and Matthew "Jack" and Ophelia Johnson.

In addition to his devoted mother, Berkaline Thomas, left to cherish fond memories are, his devoted wife, Joyce L. Thomas, two daughters, TaKeya Thomas and TaKeshia Thomas, foster daughter, LaKeyna Thomas, a devoted friend who was like a son, Bruce Holmes, grandchildren, Taiji, La Mar, Na'Zyia, Za'Nyia, Leila, Aaliyah and Tanina, devoted sister, Patricia E. Thomas, sisters, Theresa, Christine, Kimberly and Angie; brother, Darnell, a devoted aunt, Hilda Ford, sisters-in-law, Sylvia Thomas, Mary B. Wells (Ronnie) and Mazie Butler, brothers-in-law, Preston Hicks, Russell Holton and Robert Holton (Thelma), a host of nieces and nephews, devoted nephew, Garrette Holton, devoted friends, Roger Carroll and Wallace Thomas other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at Shiloh Community United Methodist Church, 12610 Shiloh Church Road, Newburg, Maryland. Date and time to be announced later.
