![]() Ronald (Ronnie) Lee Thompson, Sr., 63, of Leonardtown, MD, formerly from Avenue, MD & Colton's Point, MD passed away on July 14, 2015 at his residence. Born on December 29, 1951 in Leonardtown, MD he was the son of the late Genevieve A. Hayden Thompson and Joseph Augustus "Gussy" Thompson, Sr.
Ronnie was the loving husband of Sharon A. Thompson, whom he married on April 12, 1975 in Holy Angels Catholic Church Avenue, MD. Ronnie is survived by his sons: Ronnie Lee Thompson, Jr., and Joseph "Joey" Thompson both of Leonardtown, MD, and 4 grandchildren. Siblings: Buddy (Joseph, Jr.) Thompson, Robbie Thompson, both of Clements, MD, and Gene Thompson of Waldorf, MD. He was preceded in death by his brothers; William (Billy) Thompson, and Carl Thompson. He was a lifelong St. Mary's County, MD resident and graduated from Chopticon High School in 1970. Ronnie joined the United States Navy and served for 2 years, earning the National Defense Medal. He was the owner of Ronnie's Painting and Power Washing for 42 years. Ronnie was a member of the American Legion Post 221 Avenue, MD. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church Avenue, MD with Father Anthony Lickteig officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Bushwood, MD. Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Thompson, Joey Thompson, Mike Foley, Patrick Woodburn, Buddy Thompson, Robbie Thompson, and Gary Oliver. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O.
