Walton L. Merchant, 68, of Swan Point, MD died peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and children on July 7, 2015. Walt was born on December 23, 1946 in Washington, DC to the late Walton L. Merchant, Sr. and the late Ruth Neal Merchant.

Walt's family was his everything. He enjoyed cars, woodworking, and boating. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran. Walt spent his career with UPS retiring after 32 years as a Center Manager.

He is survived by his wife Diana M. Merchant; children Walton L. Merchant, III (Michelle), Matthew V. Merchant, Sr. (Wendy), Diana M. Lennon (Jimmy), Jennifer M. Grimsley (Dennis), Mark W. Merchant, Sr. (Charity); and sister Nancy Herring. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 11 AM until Mass time at 12:30 PM at the Holy Ghost Church, Issue, MD. Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home.
