Thomas Miles Murray, Jr., 67 passed away on April 10, 2008 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata. Mr. Murray was born in Morristown, New Jersey and relocate to Maryland with his parents, the late Thomas M. Murray, Sr. and Gertrude Lade Murray, in 1958.
He attended Edmonson High School in Baltimore before joining the Navy in 1959. He served aboard the USS Lawrence, a guided missled destroyer, in blockade operations during the Cuban Missle Crisis of October, 1962. After his Navy service, Mr. Murray worked for Western Electric Co. for many years installing telecommunication equipment in Faulkner, Maryland, and later settled in La Plata in 1966. In addition to his professional life, Mr. Murray is best known for his thoughtfulness of others, story-telling of past events, and a great sense of humor. Devoted husband to wife of 44 years, the former Helen Cipriano, preceded him in death on January 27, 2008. Loving father to Robert M. Murray with Christine Riddle of Middle River; Colleen L. Martin with Louis of Stuart, Florida; Stephen M. Murray with Christy of La Plata; and loving grandfather "pappy" to Katherine and Danielle Murray of La Plata; and Farren, Braden and Delaney Martin of Stuart, Florida. Also surviving are his siblings Mary Jean Parrott of Elkridge; and Michael A. Murray of Columbia. A Viewing will be held on Monday, April 14, 2008 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm with prayers at 7 pm at the AREHART-ECHOLS FUNERAL HOME, P.A. in La Plata. A Life Celebration will be held at 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Newport Parish on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers will be the St. Mary's Catholic Church-Newport Parish. Arrangements provided by AREHART-ECHOLS FUNERAL HOME. |
