Our mother, Doris A. "MeeMaw" Tazelaar, 89, lived with cancer until June 27, 2015 when our Lord Jesus took her in His arms to be with Him eternally in Heaven. There she will be received by her husband, Richard N. Tazelaar; her father and mother, Benjamin and Mona Johnson; and many others who loved her.

Doris was born in Fairfield, NE in 1925. She was raised on the family farm with five loving siblings, skipped two grade levels and left home for Anderson College in Indiana. There she lived with her sister, Alma and met her soon to be husband. They raised three children, Richard R. (Rick), Steven D. (Steve) and Elaine Mona in Clinton, MD. They gave her eight grandchildren, all who adored her.

Through her life Doris delighted others with her inspirational writing, her lovely singing voice, her recounting of devotedly acquired genealogical history, all of which reflected her loving concern for others. Doris retired as a Contract Specialist from the Department of Energy in 1987 and lived in her dream house in La Plata, MD. She was devoted to her family, her church family and most of all to God who promises to reunite us all at the time of our passing. Glory Hallelujah.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at the Life Stream Church of Nazarene, 5105 Leonardtown Rd., Waldorf, MD 20601. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11 AM. Private interment at the MD Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD will be held at a later date.
