Marie Frances Nelson, 95, of Leonardtown, MD died April 11, 2008 at St. Mary's Nursing Center. Born August 4, 1912 in Compton, MD she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Edna Adams.

She was the loving wife of the late James E. "Eddie" Nelson whom she married on October 6, 1930 in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and who preceded her in death on April 20, 1971.

She is survived by her son James Edwin Nelson, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Leonardtown, MD as well as four grandchildren, Thomas, Cynthia, Ronald and Margie; eight great-grandchildren Dale, Tammie, Brandy, Jessica, Kristina, Eddie, Stephanie and Amber and four great-great grandchildren, Alex, Hailey, Kelsey and Owen.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings: William Melvin, John Franklin, Joseph Edward, Thomas Earl, Ella May, Mary Louise, Agnes Beatrice, Catherine Estelle and Mary Ernestine.

Mrs. Nelson was a lifelong St. Mary's County resident who enjoyed her family, church, growing and caring for her many flowers and playing card games.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 PM on Monday, April 14, 2008 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A. where prayers are being said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 12:00 Noon, with Fr. John Mattingly officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be Thomas Nelson, Sr., Ronald Nelson, Thomas "Dale" Nelson, Jr, Richard Nelson, Margie Nelson and Cynthia Howard.
