Marie Ann Scopin, 63, of Newburg, MD passed away peacefully on June 23, 2015 in La Plata MD. Born at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. she was the daughter of the late William and Freda Torres.

Beloved wife of the late Carl E. Scopin Sr. Beloved sister of Edward (Eddie) Torres and his wife Sue Torres of Riverdale MD and Mary Kathryn Loveday and her husband Richard Loveday of South Carolina. A Special Mother to the late Carl Eugene Scopin Jr and his wife Joyce Scopin of Boaz, Alabama, Valerie Buchanan and her husband Mike Buchanan of Lusby, MD, Mary Alice Scopin of Leonardtown MD, Tina Winkler and her husband JC Winkler of Leonardtown MD, and Margarita Penn and her husband Robert Penn of Prince Frederick MD. She loved her 15 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Marie had a life-long career until retirement with C&P Telephone (now Verizon).

At age 46, she was married for the first time to the "man of her dreams". Growing up in Washington DC together, she and Carl were friends at a young age. Although their lives took separate paths, they reconnected and were married to spend the rest of their life together. They enjoyed traveling to the Amish Country, Williamsburg, playing slots at Dover Downs, cruising around town in their antique cars, and spending time with family and friends.

After retirement, they purchased the waterfront home they always dreamed of and resided in Newburg MD for 16 years. Her passions were making homemade crafts and fleece blankets, creating lifelong memories with phone books for family, and cooking. "I have been blessed with great friends and neighbors and a wonderful family all who I love very much".

A special thank you to the staff at SagePoint Rehabilitation Center in La Plata, MD who provided exceptional care in her last months. She said, "They are my second family". Arrangements provided by Gaschs Funeral Home.
