Edward "Eddie" Thomas Johnston, 68, of Drayden, MD passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on June 21, 2015. Born on August 24, 1946 in Leonardtown, MD he was the son of the late Margaret Lucelia Bean Johnston and Thomas Edison Johnston.

Eddie was the loving husband of the late Carolyn Ann Johnston whom he married on June 3, 1989, and who preceded him in death on February 21, 2010.

Eddie is survived by his children; Sandra Johnston Adkins of Lexington Park, MD, Edward (Tommy) Johnston of Bowie, MD, 6 grandchildren; Amanda Johnston, Tommy Boothe, Nikki Dulaney, Jackie Johnston, Lexi Adkins, and Edward Thomas Johnston, II. . 6 great grandchildren: Savannah Hardesty, Kaedence Hardesty, Wyatt Dulaney, Gannon Dulaney, Avery Boothe, and James Abell, III, and loving companion for the past 4 years Carolyn Anderson. Siblings; Margaret Johnston Abraham of Leonardtown, MD, George W. Johnston of Chatsworth, GA, and Virginia Johnston Tippet of Hollywood, MD. He was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Johnston Gogan of Johnson City, TN.

Eddie was a lifelong St. Mary's County, MD resident. He was retired from the U.S. Government as a carpenter at Patuxent Naval Air Station, and was a waterman.

Eddie loved his family over everything. He enjoyed hosting family gatherings and always said "The more the merrier!" He also helped many people in the community turn their lives around through his mentoring and sponsorship at AA. He loved the water; crabbing, fishing, and oystering. Eddie was a master carpenter who enjoyed building and was always happy to help anyone with a home improvement project.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady's Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD with Father John Nguyen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Tommy Boothe, Brian Ford, Cliff Scott, James Abell, Andrew Dulaney, and Connor Woode. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Richard Abraham, George W. Johnston, and Steven Neugent.
