![]() James "Tinyboy" Vernon Burch, 57, of Waldorf, MD died on June 1, 2015 at Washington Hospital Center. James was born June 10, 1957 to the late Russell Arthur and Bertha Ann Buckler Burch.
He was a Merchant Marine in which he served two years on an oil tanker "S.S. SHENANDOAH". After his discharge he pursued a career as a plumber. On New Year's Day 1978 he was in an automobile accident which left him a quadriplegic. James worked at Southern Maryland Hospital Center where he was known by his co-workers as "Jim". Jim has never let his handicap stop him from being an effective worker. The Prince George's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities named Jim "Employee of the Year" for his services at Southern Maryland Hospital. James enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by four brothers; Russell, Jr., George, Philip and his wife Kathleen and Robert and his wife Jody, one sister Joyce Brenda McConnell and her husband John McConnell, Jr., and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, June 5, 2015 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646, where a service will be held at 7:00 PM. Interment will be on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 9:00 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 4535 Piney Church Road, Waldorf, MD 20602. Pallbearers will be; Russell Burch, III, Robbie Burch, Jr., Cody Burch, Jonathan McConnell, Alan Hintze and Larry Hintze. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Bobby Hemming, Mark Burch and Lewis Vest.
