Catherine Veronica "Katie" Meyers, 84, of Huntingtown, MD, formerly of Hillside, MD, died April 7, 2008 at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born November 13, 1923 in Washington, D.C. and raised in Cheltenham, MD.

She graduated from Surratsville High School, and also attended beautician school. She married William Frederick "Bill" Meyers, Jr., and they moved from Hillside to Calvert County in the early 1950's. She opened Katie's Beauty Shop in North Beach, and operated there until her retirement in the late 1980's.

Katie loved spending time with her family, and she enjoyed cooking, flowers, traveling and shopping. Her husband Bill died June 26, 1980. She was preceded in death by daughters Ellen K. Meyers and Sandra Lee Robbins, and her sister Josephine Long. She is survived by her daughter Linda Jean Wells of the home, her son Leslie Allen Meyers, Sr. and his wife Natalie of St. Leonard, MD, and her sister Jean Wilhelm of Suitland, MD. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00–9:00 PM at Rausch Funeral Home, Owings, MD, where Funeral Services will be held Thursday April 10 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, MD. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Calvert Hospice.
