Jean Eleanore McNelis was born on April 25, 1925 in Washington, D.C. to the late Louise Hisle and Louis Charles Strohecker. Jean was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Annapolis Chapter #46 and a former member of East Washington Heights Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. she loved gardening, watching her birds and a love of nature. She enjoyed living on the Chesapeake Bay.

Jean is survived by her husband James Ralph McNelis, daughter Susan and her husband Mark Szynborski, Christine McNelis, Lee Ann Woodcock and her son Ralph L. and his wife Patricia McNelis. Five grandchildren and a great grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the Rausch Funeral Home, Lusby, MD on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M., where funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11, 20008 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Randall Casto officiating. Interment will follow at Washington National Cemetery, Suitland MD.
