Anthony Gustine Claggett was born on May 31, 1924, the second of ten children- Adelle Avent (deceased), Teresa Fox, Joseph "Joe/Brother" Claggett, Margaret Harris, Elizabeth Davis, Edna Mae Brown (deceased), Mary "Tiny" Branson, Charles "Butch" Claggett (Teresa) and Veronica "Cheetah" Graham (James)- to Joseph and Edna Middleton Claggett in then Piscataway, Md.

He is survived by his wife Helen Lancaster Claggett, their children Doris Medley (Jerome), Anthony "Steve" Claggett (Diane), Joseph Claggett and pre-deceased by his son Alfred "Sam" Claggett.

"Amboy" as family affectionately called him also left behind 7 grandchildren Brian Medley (Debbie), Joy Medley, Joseph Claggett, Jr. (Samantha), Michael Claggett, La Krishna "Krissy" Claggett and Alfred Claggett, Jr., Kinston Ferguson, Jr. as well as 11 great grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews whom he spoiled with treats whenever he had the chance.

Visitation will be held from 8am until 10am on Monday, May 11, 2015 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A. 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am at St. Mary's Church, 13401 Piscataway Rd, Clinton, MD 20735. Interment is at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
