Barbara Lee Straughan, 80, of Charlotte Hall, MD passed away peacefully to be with the Lord at her residence on March 10, 2015. Barbara Lee was born on January 28, 1935 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late James D. Eads and the late Veada (Case) Eads.

Barbara Lee was the mother of two and a proud grandmother. She survived her first husband William "Buddy" Edward Mathews who passed in 2003 after retiring from the Prince Georges County Police Department in 1989. Barbara was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, served as a greeter and generally helped in any way she could for over 65 years. Barbara was an avid reader enjoying mystery novels. She loved to travel and was a "shopping addict." She loved cooking and serving others.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her first husband, William E. Mathews.

Barbara is survived by her second husband, Walter Clyde Straughan, Jr. of Charlotte Hall, MD; sons, Robert W. Mathews of La Plata, MD and R. Scott Mathews of Prince Frederick, MD; step-son, Alan V. Straughan of Pasadena, MD; brother, Dudley C. Eads of Hardyville, VA; sister, Judith A. Schauf of California, MD; and four grandchildren, Joshua Mathews, Jeff Mathews, Jessica Templeman and Victoria Mathews.

Family and friends will be received for Barbara's life celebration on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, 8011 Rosaryville Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. A Service will begin at 11:00 on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be Private.

Memorial contributions in Barbara's memory may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 8011 Rosaryville Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. Arrangements are being handled by Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
