Virginia Denmead Sweeney, 91, of Leonardtown, MD died March 28, 2008 in St. Mary's Nursing Center, Leonardtown, MD.

Born October 6, 1916 in Cockeysville, MD, she was the daughter of the late William F. Kelley and Alma L. Gemmill Kelley. Virginia was a former resident of Piney Point, MD. There she enjoyed living on the waterfront and catching and picking hard crabs. She loved nature and would often nurture wild creatures back to health. Virginia will be remembered for her many kind deeds and will truly be missed.

Virginia is survived by five step children and a very dear cousin, Howard Calvin Price of Owings Mills, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Joseph Sweeney, Sr. on March 30, 2000, and five siblings; William F. Kelley, Joshua T. Kelley, Alma Norris, Dorcas Antonelli, and Robert L. Kelley.

The family received friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD. Prayers were recited at 7:00 p.m. by Reverend William Gurnee.
