Mary Jane Brookbank, 82, of Silver Spring, MD, formerly of Mechanicsville, MD passed away March 1, 2015 at her residence in Silver Spring, MD. Born December 4, 1932 in Sandgates, MD she was the daughter of the late Frederick Leonard Harding, Sr. and the late Lillie Mae Downs.

Mary Jane began her career working at Harding's Store in Oakville, MD working for her father in the store. Eventually her own home would be directly located across from her childhood home. Her career led her the field of banking and worked at Maryland National and Bank of America in the Mechanicsville branch as a Service Rep. Mary Jane loved helping people whether it was within the bank or volunteering to teach reading in the school system.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was predeceased by her sisters, Betty Drury and Louise LeBlanc, brother, Frederick Leonard Harding, Jr.

Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Leonard Marcus Bookbank, son, Alan Marcus Brookbank, daughter, Karen Lynn Basinger (Late Joseph), brother, Earl Harding (Ann), sister, Katherine Buss and one grandson, James Marcus Basinger.

The family will receive friends for Mary Jane's Visitation on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 5-8pm with a Funeral Service at 7pm at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. Interment will be Private on March 10, 2015 at1:45pm at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Arrangements provided by Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home.
