Kathy Gaye Swann was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her beloved family and friends.

Kathy was born September 27, 1952 to Warren Franklin Adams and Frances Theresa Adams in Washington, DC. She grew up in Oxon Hill, Maryland, and attended Oxon Hill High School. On February 28, 1970 she met the love of her life, Allen Rodney Swann, and they married the following year.

Kathy and Allen moved to Mechanicsville, Maryland in 1983, and Kathy was a committed and nurturing homemaker. She never missed any of her kids' countless sports games, school concerts, and other events. Kathy and Allen built such a caring household that there were frequently kids from other families who would stay at their home for extended periods of time. After her kids finished high school, Kathy began working for Prince George's Public County Schools, where she served as a teacher assistant for 18 years. The Swann's annual beach vacation and annual Christmas gathering were among her favorite times of the year.

She passed away on February 28, 2015 at her home in Mechanicsville, Maryland, after a year-long battle with cervical cancer.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Allen, her three children, Amy Marie Swann, Brian Allen Swann, and Kelly Diane Morgan; her son-in-laws David Edward Scheig and Jared Ashley Morgan; her daughter-in-law Brooke Steuart Swann; and her father Warren Franklin Adams. She is also survived by her siblings, Faye Adams, Kaye Sohns (David), Darrell Adams (Elizabeth), Paul Adams (Christine), and Robin Adams (Rose). She is preceded in death by her mother, Frances Theresa Adams.

Kathy's greatest wish was to be remembered fondly by her family, especially her ten grandchildren, Corin, Kira, Alexa, Lillian, Brady, Ruby, Talmadage, Reagan, Rivers, and Cody.

Family and friends are invited to Kathy's Life Celebration on Thursday, March 5 from 4:00 to 8:00pm (prayers at 5:30pm) at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, Maryland.
