Joan Patricia Cochran, 72, of Hollywood, MD passed away February 17, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 12, 1942 in Dameron, MD she is the daughter of the late Lloyd Thomas Carroll and Viola Augusta Ridgell. Joan is a lifelong resident of St. Mary's County.

On December 7, 1979, Joan married her beloved husband, Richard Clarence Cochran in Leonardtown, MD. Together they were married 31 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in September 2011.

She was employed by St. Mary's County Public Schools as a Food Service Specialist for over thirty years of dedicated service until her retirement in 2007. She was an avid collector of Longaberger and enjoyed making trips to the factory in Ohio. She was devoted to her husband and family. Her greatest advice to her children was to "live a good life." She also loved her granddogs, Daisy Mae, Lucy, and Mox.

Joan is survived by her children, Tammy Trossbach (Wayne) of Lexington Park, MD and Sandy Cochran of North Carolina; her siblings, Elaine Carroll of Warrenton, VA, Sandra Gerek of Park Hall, MD, Mary Ann Norris of St. Inigoes, MD, Ed Carroll of Lexington Park, MD, Donnie Carroll of Ridge, MD, Charles Carroll of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Tony Carroll of Ridge, MD, Roger Carroll of Lexington Park, MD, and Peggy Vallandingham of Ridge, MD; and her granddaughter, Hannah Tolson. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her son, David Glenn Keister; and her siblings, Frankie Carroll and Barbara Smith.

Family will receive friends for Joan's Life Celebration on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with prayers at 7:00 p.m., at Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Interment will follow at a later date at Charles Memorial Gardens in Leonardtown, MD.
