John Richard "Dick" Morgan, 84, of Saint Leonard, MD passed on January 29, 2015 at home surrounded by his family after a long hard fight with melanoma cancer. He was born May 22, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late John Frank Morgan and late Nina Miller Morgan.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan Morgan, and daughter Kelly Wingo. He was preceded in death by daughter Kim Royal. In addition, Dick is survived by his sister Mollie Morgan, Brother Craig Morgan, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Dick left Utah to join the Navy. He entered the Naval Academy from the fleet and graduated in 1955. Lieutenant Commander John Richard (Dick) Morgan USN (Ret) served the Navy for twenty years in destroyers, submarines, and Service Force ships. He retired from active duty, as a LCDR in May 1974.
Dick spent the next 18 years as Supervisor of Operations and Safety for the Charles county Board of Education in Maryland; retired in 1993.

He enjoyed life in retirement to the fullest; traveling all around the world with the love of his life, Joanie, watching his family grow, playing golf with friends, and attending Navy football games with classmates.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 11:00 for service at St. John Vianney Church, Prince Frederick, MD. A gathering for the celebration of Dick's life will follow in the church hall.
