Nancy Mudd Roper Hayden, 74, of Waldorf, Maryland passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. She was born on December 12, 1940 in La Plata, MD and was the daughter of the late Joseph Burch Mudd and the late Helen Louise Simpson Mudd. She was preceded in death by Bronce Lafayette Roper.

Nancy was a caring, loving wife and mother but her true joy was being a grandmother. She loved spending time tending her flower gardens. She was a descendant of Dr. Samuel A. Mudd and took great pride in her and her husband Allen's dedication to the Dr. Mudd House Museum. She was involved in every aspect of the Mudd House Museum, a long-standing member of the Board of Directors as well as Curator. Nancy worked for the federal government before becoming a travel agent with Action Travel until her retirement.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Lester Allen Hayden, sons, Gregory Bronce Roper (Pam), Jeffery David Roper (Karen), Gary Edward Roper (Lisa Surniak), step-sons, Lester Allen Hayden, Jr. (Caroline), James Allen Hayden, brothers, Joseph Allan Mudd, Samuel Alexander Mudd, David Brian Mudd, sisters, Patricia Ann Wills, Helen Elizabeth Keller, grandchildren, Shane David Roper, Connor Evan Roper, Brett Edward Roper, Shelby Lee Roper, Tabitha Lee Roper, Joshua Ryan Roper, Chase Nathaniel Roper, step-grandchildren, David Hayden, Ryan Hayden, Mathew Hayden, Ashton Hayden, and Talon Hayden as well as Kim Jenkins Roper, mother of grandchildren Brett, Tabitha, Joshua and Chase.

Family will receive friends for Nancy's Visitation on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m with Prayers at 7:00pm at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall with Deacon Henry Middleton officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, 3320 St. Peter's Drive, Waldorf, MD 20601. Pallbearers will be: Shane Roper, Connor Roper, Brett Roper, Joseph Mudd, Jr., James Posey and Alex Mudd.
