Charles Webster "Charlie" Herbert, Jr., 86, of Hughesville, MD passed away January 25, 2015 at Washington Hospital Center. Born May 14, 1928 in Hughesville, MD, he was the son of Charles Webster Herbert and Bessie Mae Knott Herbert.

"Charlie" was a life-long farmer and had also worked as a night dispatcher for SMECO until his retirement. He loved to hunt waterfowl and quail and also enjoyed fishing and crabbing. He raised championship bird dogs. In later years he carved duck decoys and was a member of the Woodmen of the World.

Predeceased by his parents, Charles is survived by his wife, Margaret McPherson Herbert; children, Charles "Lucky" Herbert (Donna); Debi Myers and Pat Herbert (Debbie Hatton); brother, James H. Herbert (Joan); 8 grandchildren, Charles Herbert IV, Emily Grace Herbert, Kaycee Sutton, Justin Good, Rian Myers, Mackenzie Herbert, Patrick Herbert, Jr. and Courtney Hatton; great-grandchildren, Ava June Herbert, Clayton Evans, Regean Evans and Derrick Jones.

The family will receive friends for "Charlie's" Life Celebration on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 2:00-4:00p.m. and 6:00-8:00p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Funeral Service will be held at Brinsfield-Echols on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00a.m. Pastor Neil Grobber will officiate. Interment will follow at Old Fields Cemetery, Hughesville, MD. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
