Agnes Virginia Betts, 91, of Waldorf died March 16, 2008.

Mrs. Betts was a retired cafeteria manager for the Charles County Board of Education. She was a member of Good Shepherd Church and Eastern Star of La Plata. She enjoyed camping.

Born Feb. 21, 1917, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John Francis Murphy and the late Addie Murphy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther David Betts Jr.; and daughters, Shirley Joan Stinman and Doris Marie Swann.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma Jean Betts Clark; grandchild, Vicki Jones; brothers, Ernest Murphy, Edward Murphy and James Lewis Scott; sister, Bvela Grigsby; 13 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation and a service were held March 20 at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata. The Rev. Eric Darr officiated. Burial took place at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf.
