![]() Prudence "Prudy" Yagmin, 89, died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at her son's home in Leonardtown, MD, where she had resided since 2006. She was born February 21, 1925 in Mason City, IA to the late Walter and Elsie Patton.
In 1955, she married Frank A. Yagmin, Jr, and together they spent 42 wonderful years together before his passing in 1998 in Princeton, IL. Prudy was a nurse in Chicago during WWII. She lived in the Chicago suburbs with Frank until they moved to Utah where Chris was born. Shortly thereafter they moved to Arizona where she was a stay at home mom to Chris and Patience. After the death of Prudy's father, her mother resided with her and Frank for the rest of her life. Prudy was always active in the local church. In the mid 1970's she received her Masters of Divinity from the Pacific School of Religion, University of California at Berkley and became a minister of the United Church of Christ - Congregational. She served as minister to several churches in Nebraska and Illinois. Prudy was always a creative and independent person. She was an avid reader, loved to sculpt, paint, weave, and craft. She was an excellent cook. She maintained her independence after the death of her husband until 2006 when she moved to Maryland to live with her son Chris and his wife Toni. Prudy was a great lover of animals and had dogs all of her life. Her last canine companion, Tessa, was adopted from a no kill animal shelter in Illinois. Tessa survives and lives with Chris and Toni and their dogs in Leonardtown. She is survived by her son, Christopher of Leonardtown and her daughter, Patience of Peoria, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank Yagmin, Jr. A memorial service will be held in the St. Nicholas Chapel at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station at a later date.
