Ann C. Whalen, 67, of Charlotte Hall, Maryland, died surrounded by her family on October 8, 2006. She is the daughter of Mamie Baker and the late William Baker and the wife of the late Joseph F. Whalen, Jr.
Mrs. Whalen was retired from the Charles County Board of Education, where she worked for many years as a Food Service Manager. She was Catholic and attended St. Mary's Church Newport, in Charlotte Hall, Maryland. She was active in her faith, volunteering with religious education and a Sacred Heart Ladies' Auxiliary Board of Trustees member. She was a member of the NAACP and the Food Service Association. She also enjoyed bowling, traveling and most of all being with her loving family. She is survived by seven children; Darlene Savoy, Valerie (Gregory) Turner, Joseph S. (Dena) Whalen, JoAnn (Emillio) Stokes, Lorraine Washington, Michael Whalen, and Martin Whalen; mother-in-law, Catherine L. Whalen; two brothers, nine sisters; fourteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Preceded her in death the late Margaret Whalen, daughter, the late Joseph F. Whalen, Sr., father-in-law, the late Timothy W. Washington, Jr., son-in-law and the late Anjanette Whalen, daughter-in-law. Friends may call on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the St. Mary's Church Newport in Charlotte Hall, Maryland, visitation from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. followed by a mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. |
