![]() James "Jim" William McLeod, 91, of La Plata, MD died December 16, 2014 at the University of MD Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, MD.
Jim was a machinist with the Department of the Navy – Naval Ordnance Station for 40 years. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his valor. In later years, he was awarded the Legion of Honor at the French Embassy in Washington, DC. He also retired from the Navy Reserves. He is a member of the Order of the Purple Heart and a past Sunday school teacher at Nanjemoy Baptist Church. He is the son of the late Frank McLeod and the late Lillian Nora Crannan McLeod. He is also predeceased by his wife, Edna McLeod; his brother, Francis McLeod; and his sister, Lillian Yuskas. He is survived by his son, Malcolm E. McLeod and his wife Donna; and two daughters, Janet G. Faherty and her husband John and Phyllis F. Handal and her husband Jady. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends received on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 9:30am until time of Funeral Service beginning at 11:30AM at the Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment at Nanjemoy Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to the Nanjemoy Baptist Church, 3030 Baptist Church Road, Nanjemoy, MD 20662.
