![]() Gary Paul Moore, 71, of Abell died March 17, 2008. Born July 6, 1936, in Douglass, Kan., he was the son of the late Charles W. Moore and the late Almalee Bird Moore.
He was a retired elevator repair specialist with the Washington, D.C., government for 33 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served from 1954 through 1958. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Avenue. In his retirement, he worked at Leonard Hall Junior Naval Academy in Leonardtown. He enjoyed dances at St. Francis Church in Compton, playing horseshoes, building houses, doing plumbing work and repairing cars. He went on many vacations, including trips to Hawaii, Ireland and senior bus trips throughout the United States. He will be remembered as a loving and caring father. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Moore. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Crowder Moore; his sons, Steven L. and his wife, Digna Moore, of Hiram, Ga., and Robert W. and his wife, Cathy Moore, of Mechanicsville; his daughters, Pamela J. and her husband, Ron Wright, of Pinellas, Fla., and Cynthia D. and her husband, David Stasch, of Mechanicsville; his sisters, Peggy Sumner and Beverly Rhodd; 13 grandchildren[ and two great-grandchildren. Visitation and a service were held March 19 at Raymond Funeral Service chapel in La Plata. The Rev. William H. Gurnee officiated. Interment was private.
