Calvin "Bubba" Edward Marbury, of Indian Head, MD departed this life on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at home. He was born on May 2, 1933 to the late Lorenzo and Helen Marbury.

Upon graduating from Pomonkey High School, he joined the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged in 1961 with the rank of Corporal. He was a member of The American Legion Post No. 170 for 50 years. He was a dedicated member of Metropolitan United Methodist Church and attended faithfully.

Calvin ran Penny's Tavern and Harold's Bar in his earlier years. Later he was employed as a plumber at Potomac Heights Mutual Home Owners Association until his health failed. He loved working there with his fellow co-workers and special friend and supervisor Mr. Donald Wilson. Calvin received many house calls and advice from our special brother Dr. James Chesley, Jr. who was always only a phone call away. Thanks Jimmy.

Calvin loved being outside in the fresh air working in the yard or sitting under the tree. He was a hard worker and was always looking for something to do. He would say that if you didn't keep moving, you would rust up. He loved watching old television programs, and helping anyone he could, doing many charitable deeds for many people. He was one of God's angels.

In addition to his parents and brother, Thomas L. Marbury (Tat), he is preceded in death by the love and Lady of his life, Mary Washington. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Carolyn Marbury Jacobs (Phillip) and six siblings; Romaine, Patricia (Kitt Harrison), Robert, Garrett (Helen), Sharon, and Shelly (Tyrone Taylor). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Viewing, 9am until time of Service, 11am, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 3385 Metropolitan Church Road, Indian Head, Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Thornton Funeral Home.
