Mamie Catherine Biscoe (Bowman) 70, of California, Md., departed this life on November 20, 2014 at her home surrounded by family. Mary, as she was affectionately known, was born on April 28, 1944 in Great Mills, Md. She was the daughter of the late Carroll and Viola (Biscoe) Bowman.

Mary was educated in the St. Mary's County Public School System. Mary's chosen profession was to be a cook. She spent many summers helping to provide meals for the children attending Camp Brown in Scotland, Md.

After her retirement, Mary enjoyed cooking and would cook large meals and always invite her aunts and uncles over for dinner. She enjoyed cooking and baking so much that she often made a cake weekly for her special uncle, John Smith, with whom she was very close. Mary loved to travel, visiting the Las Vegas Casinos, rubbing scratch offs and playing bingo. While at home she enjoyed watching Family Feud, old westerns and QVC.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Viola Biscoe; grandparents, Thomas and Margaret Biscoe; aunts, Christine Lloyd, Agnes Biscoe Mason and Grace Anderson; uncles, Joe Louis and Maurice Biscoe, Lawrence Dyson, William Williams, William Sheffield, Francis Barber, Walter Lloyd, James Anderson and Warren Mason and a close companion, James Richard (Buster) Barber.

Mary is survived by one uncle, Thomas L. Biscoe (Penny); aunts, Helen Thompson (Charles), Barbara Watts, Doris Smith (John), all of Lexington Park, Maryland, Shirley Barber, of Hollywood Maryland, Frances Williams, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Elaine Sheffield, of Long Beach, California, Ernestine Thomas, of Chaptico, Maryland and one very special and devoted cousin, Melissa Biscoe, who Mary affectionately referred to as her Queen B and her husband, Knoxie Carson, of California, Maryland. They both committed themselves and lovingly cared for Mary until her death. She is also survived by a very good friend, Charlotte Reed.

Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mary's sharp mind and quick wit will be missed most of all.

Family will unite with friends on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 for visitation at 10:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 22375 Three Notch Road, Lexington Park, MD. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. Arrangements provided by Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home.
