![]() Virginia R. Mistr, 89, of White Plains, MD died Nov. 14, 2014. She was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Duluth, Minnesota. She grew up in Ashland, Wisconsin.
In 1943 she joined the Nurse Cadet Corps at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Washington, DC. She earned a B.S. degree in Nursing from American University and an MS degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland. She was a past member of American Nurses Association, National Leagues of Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau. Her professional career at St. Elizabeth's Hospital spanned 34 years. At time of retirement she was Chief Nurse at William A. White Building, a satellite unit of the National Institute of Mental Health. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond B. Clifford; her mother, Rosalie La Valle; her husband, William H. Mistr; sister, Lorraine Johnson; nephew, James Selner of California; and niece, Patricia Schuman of DC. She is survived by her son, William Arthur Mistr; daughter-in-law, Donna Anderson Mistr; grandson, William Anderson Mistr; granddaughter, Molly Clifford Mistr; nephew, Robert Selner of Oregon; nieces, Karen Sadoff of Oregon, Peggy Chaney of MD and Mary Lou Hill of California. Relatives and friends may call at the Huntt Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014 from 3-5PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11AM, Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Parish, 4590 St. Joseph Way, Pomfret, MD 20675. Memorial Contributions may be made to: P.O.
