John M. Sopousek, 86, of Solomons, MD died March 10, 2008 in Asbury-Solomons Health Care Center, Solomons, MD.

Born April 10, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, IA, he was the son of the late Milver Sopousek and Irene L. Janacek Sopousek. Mr. Sopousek married the late Doris Anne Lebel on August 5, 1946 in Bamberg, Germany. Mr. Sopousek served in the U.S. Army from 1944 until 1951. He was later Vice President of Marketing Services for Saco-Lowell, Inc., a textile machinery company. He received his Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University.

Mr. Sopousek is survived by his daughter, Jan Brandstetter, of Mechanicsville, MD, a granddaughter, Sheila Greer of Hughesville, MD, and a great granddaughter, Tabitha Greer of Hughesville, MD.

In addition to his parents and spouse, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Brandstetter.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Asbury-Solomons Health Care Center, Solomons, MD. Inurnment will be private.
