![]() Retired Master Sergeant Charles Francis Gallagher, 75, passed away peacefully in his home in Waldorf on October 30, 2014. He was surrounded by family and loved ones. Those close to him affectionately called him "Hon".
Charles was proud to have honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army and served in Vietnam where he taught English to the Vietnamese. He valued the importance of education and earned a degree in psychology as well as a Master's degree in library science. He retired from the Indian Head naval base (N.O.S.) and went on to be a contractor for the Department of Human Health Services in Washington, DC. He was also an active member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. In his early retirement, he participated in Meals on Wheels. He loved to travel, spend time with his grandchildren, and watch his favorite baseball team, the San Francisco Giants. He truly is our "Mr. Wonderful." He is the son of the late Kenneth M. Gallagher and the late Kathryn Gillen Gallagher and his sister, Kathleen Conners. He is survived by his beloved wife, Clara Timbol Gallagher; his daughters, Lorraine McGhee and her husband Tommy and Theresa Gallagher and her husband Adam Fagan; his brother, Kenneth Gallagher and his wife Gail; his sister, Rosemarie Such and her husband Russell; and his grandchildren, Tony Gallagher, Turner McGhee and Marcelina McGhee. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with a Prayer Service at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5630 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12 Noon on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, 100 Village Street, Waldorf, MD 20602. Interment at 1:45PM at the MD Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
