Gary John Underwood, 71, of La Plata, MD died on October 27, 2014 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Hospital. He was born in Champaign, IL on December 5, 1942; He was the son of the late Clarence and Cleta Underwood. He is also predeceased by his wife Alice Geane Underwood.

Gary was a Military Policeman in the Army from September 17, 1962 to July 31 1965. He moved to Maryland in 1980. He owned his own small engine repair business, enjoyed carving walking sticks, collecting and loved to garden.

He is survived by his daughter Tammy LaBrosse; sons Jeff Underwood and Robert Underwood, brother Dennis Underwood, grandchildren Samantha, Travis and Emily Underwood, Casey and Lexy LaBrosse. He is also survived by his dear friend Marcia.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 30th from 5 to 7PM with an American Legion Service at 6:30PM followed by the Funeral Service at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata, MD. The interment will be on Friday, October 31, 2014 11 AM at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, MD.
