The Southern Maryland Youth Association (SMYA) Hawks is for the benefit of the youth in the Charles County community and operates as a non-profit 501(c)3 entity within the Charles County Youth Football League (CCYFL). Our objectives as coaches, administrators, and volunteers are to teach children the fundamentals of football and the art of cheerleading while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, self-discipline, physical fitness, and character for use on & off the field in a fun and safe environment. Aside from teaching and promoting athleticism and good sportsmanship, the SMYA program strongly emphasizes education and preparing each participant for the next level of competition and lifes challenges.
Our football coaches are experienced, knowledgeable and proven, as well as certified through USA Football, and our cheerleading coaches come from all-star competitive cheer programs and are safety certified through the American Association of Cheer Coaches and Administrators (AACCA). Our football and cheerleading programs have successfully produced well-rounded young individuals who have learned and lived by our philosophy.
