The Governor's Cup Yacht Race is an annual event in Maryland. It begins in Annapolis and terminates at the St. Mary's College Waterfront in St. Mary's City. The Governor's Cup is the largest overnight yacht race on the east coast. The 30th annual event was held on Aug 01/02, 2003. Spring is here and the Lord Calvert Yacht Club has a case of spring fever. It's a whole new spirit this year for a club that has been active since 1960 with a diverse membership from young professionals to old salts who have never been dry behind the ears. We have acquired a new waterfront property location and clubhouse facility. We have teamed up with Town Creek Point Marina in California, Md. A full range of club activities is scheduled including: raft-ups, cruises, crab feasts, a chili cook off and dock party to name a few.

We are looking to the future and at becoming the Premier Yacht Club in the Pax River area. You are invited to catch the fever and join the spirit of the most sociable yacht club on the Chesapeake -- where power and sail go hand in hand.

We offer safe boating courses to the public in St. Mary's and Calvert Counties. No cost for instruction There is a small fee to cover materials. The PRPS is a division of United States Power and Sailboating Squadrons. Classes open to the public. Classes are given at least 5 times a year. Leonardtown HS and Patuxent High as well as the Yacht Club in Solomons.
