The Barony of Dun Carraig is the Southern Maryland chapter of the SCA, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the study and re-enactment of lfe in the Middle Ages and early Renaissance. The SCA's members practice all the Arts & Sciences of medieval life from the daily living of making and wearing of garb and preparing feasts to the war time interests of making armor for rapier combat to fully armored combat fielding armies numbering in the thousands of soldiers. Please visit us in the Lusby Community Center Wednesday nights around 8.

Hours of operation for the research room and gift shop are: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 3pm and 1st and 3rd Saturdays from 9am to 2pm.

The recently formed Charles County Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization located in Charles County Maryland. Our purpose is to promote the collection, preservation and dissemination of genealogical information. We also hope to educate and assist those interested in researching their ancestry. Membership is open to anyone interested in genealogy. We meet at 7:00PM, on the third Thursday of each month, except December. Our meetings are held at the LDS Family History Center, 4560 Padgett Road, White Plains, Charles County, Maryland.

The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century was formed in 1915 and has 13,000 members in 45 state societies. We are descendants of those brave people who came to America during the 17th Century. Some were the founders of Jamestown, others signed the Mayflower Compact, some were ministers of the Gospel, or landowners and freemen.

The Pvt. Wallace Bowling Camp #1400, one of numerous camps within the State of Maryland, was officially chartered in La Plata, May 1982, in honor of Pvt. William Wallace Bowling, a local patriot who served the South as a member of Co. A, 2nd Maryland Infantry, C.S.A.
The Pvt. Wallace Bowling Camp #1400 is presently composed of nearly 60 Confederate descendants. These descendants boast a unique variety of ages and occupations, from middle, high school and college students, high school principals, teachers, professionals, small business owners, and clergy to government employees, industrial and service employees, farmers, retirees, military veterans, firefighters and more.
While the majority of members reside in Southern Maryland, the Pvt. Wallace Bowling Camp #1400 is proud to knowledge that it has patriotic members residing in such distant localities as Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.
