CBL is a marine research facility of the University of Maryland System's Center for Environmental and Estuarine Studies (CEES). CBL was founded in 1925 by Dr. Reginald V. Truitt, and is located on the Western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, 60 miles SSE of Washington, D.C. A mid-Bay location at the mouth of the Patuxent River places it within easy reach of diverse aquatic and terrestrial habitats in one of the world's largest - and well studied - estuarine systems.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has a residence center at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The program offerings at this center specialize in aviation education and are uniquely attuned to the educational needs and challenges of the adult part-time student.

The Florida Institute of Technology Patuxent Graduate Center has provided graduate education in the southern Maryland area since 1972. Alumni from the Patuxent site number over 1600 graduates to-date. Florida Tech Patuxent offers 11 graduate programs from business and management to engineering. The programs are designed to allow working professionals an opportunity to maintain professional and technical competence, while earning a graduate degree. Students have the option of taking courses via distance learning, face-to-face or a combination of both. Classes are held in the Frank Knox Building just outside of Gate 2. Prospective students are encouraged to stop by the graduate center to speak with an academic advisor regarding admission and course requirements.  [ More info ]
