Boot camp programs are one of the hottest trends in fitness programming and offer a new twist on traditional performance and conditioning activities. During this 6-week fast-paced, high-energy program, you will engage in age-appropriate drills and activities to improve strength, cardio capacity, balance, and agility. Boot Camp will be held at the Garvey Senior Activity Center on Mondays, 8:30-9:30 a.m., from July 11-Aug. 15.

Participants should wear athletic shoes and bring a water bottle. Much of the class will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Advance sign up is required. Fee: $15 payable to Shannon Pope. Fee must be paid in advance.

Children’s Aid, Inc. is currently conducting our annual “Supplies for Success” Drive in support of our Operation Backpack Program in Calvert County. This year, Operation Backpack will be providing 200 local children with the school supplies they need to succeed in the new school year.

If you would like to donate school supplies to this effort, please consider the following: backpacks, composition books, pencils, Crayola crayons (24 ct), spiral notebooks, college-ruled filler paper, highlighters, colored pencils and glue sticks. All donations should be new and unopened.

School supply donations with be accepted through August 15, 2016 at the following locations:

In cooperation with the Waldorf VFD & Rescue and Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC), the Waldorf Lions Club is sponsoring it's bi-monthly Blood Drive on August 8, 2016 from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm at the Waldorf Fire Department, located at 3425 Old Washington Rd., Waldorf, MD.

The AAMC will provide it's spacious, climate-controlled, self-contained Blood Mobile. The Blood Mobile is designed with the donor in mind. It is exceptionally comfortable and provides the amenities necessary to make the donor experience a pleasant one. Appointments are spaced to minimize waiting time and the AAMC staff efficiently facilitates the process so that donors spend a minimum amount of time to donate.

The cost is $15.00 per animal for each rabies vaccine, $10 for each distemper vaccine and $30 for a microchip.

To obtain a three-year vaccination, you must present a current rabies certificate (not tags).
