Public Invited to Attend

The 2016 Draft Budget is rescheduled for Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. The presentation will be held at the St. Mary's Governmental Building, Chesapeake Room, in Leonardtown, Maryland.

The public is encouraged to attend and participate.

Sheriff Tim Cameron and members of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Command Staff will present the Sheriff's Office Fiscal Year – 2016 Draft Budget to the Sheriff's Office Citizen Advisory Board. During the presentation, each Division Commander will provide an overview of their division's projected needs for FY – 2016.

This year's budget request includes items, such as:

- A request for Speed Alert Trailers, which assists deputies identifying when violations are occurring (date, time, and speed).

- A request for a Traffic Analyst, who will be the primary person responsible for compiling statistical data concerning traffic related issues.

- A request for a Downdraft Dusting Station, which creates a downdraft when processing items for fingerprints, thus pulling the excess fingerprint dust down into a filter system. This station protects the technicians from excessive exposure to fingerprint dust.

For more information, contact Jennifer Stone, Public Information Officer at 301-475-4200, ext. 1922, or by email at Jennifer.Stone(at)stmarysmd.com.

Capoeira is a unique Brazilian martial art that combines self defense, dance, and acrobatics. Capoeira is not just about the dodging defenses, swift attacks, and wily feints of the game, it's about mind, body and motion. You don't have to possess a martial arts, gymnastics or dance background to train in capoeira. We will teach you everything you need to know! All classes begin with a brief warm up, stretch and a workout that includes partner work to develop your technique. Wear comfortable t-shirt, workout pants (no shorts or jeans, please). Bring a towel and a bottle of water. Ages 18+
