Janice Ruth Combs, 77, of Hollywood, MD, formerly from Avenue, MD passed away on September 24, 2014 in Washington, DC. Born on April 5, 1937 in Avenue, MD she was the daughter of the late Cathleen Adell Buckler Lawrence and Clyde Alexander Lawrence.

Janice was the loving wife of the late George Lawrence Combs whom she married on April 4, 1964 in Holy Angels Catholic Church Avenue, MD and who preceded her in death by on March 17, 1987 in Calvert County, MD.

Janice is survived by her children; Robert Combs (Elizabeth) of Hollywood, MD, Shirley Trossbach of California, MD, 8 grandchildren; Lauren Combs, Guy Combs, Brandon Chaplin, Samantha Trossbach, Travis Chaplin, Cory Trossbach, Chris Combs, Sarah Combs, 1 great grandchild Luna Grace Pagan; her sister Catherine Ludwig (Paul) of Leonardtown, MD, sister in law Barbara Lawrence. and lifetime friend Betty Farrell. She was preceded in death by her brother Edward Clyde Lawrence.

Janice graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1955 and was a lifelong resident of St. Mary's County, MD, where she was a worked as a homemaker. Janice loved bingo and she was a crochet artist in Cecil's Old Mill, Great Mills, MD, selling her items she made. She also was a member of the Art Association of Cecil's Mill in Great Mills, MD.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. John's Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD, with Father Raymond Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow the church cemetery. Pallbearers; Robert Combs, Guy Combs, Brandon Chaplin, Travis Chaplin, Cory Trossbach, and Chris Combs. Honorary Pallbearers; Lauren Combs, Samantha Trossbach, Sarah Combs, and Jordan Knott.
