Stephen "Steve" Melvin Sparshott, 68, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on August 29, 2014 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. He was born on December 13, 1945 in Washington, DC to the late William Lawrence Sparshott and the late Dorothy (Knott) Sparshott.

Steve retired as Supervisor from Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed taking cruises, dining out, working on lawnmowers, cutting grass, talking on the telephone, and being on Facebook. Steve also loved his dog, Sandy.

Steve was survived by his loving wife, Deborah "Debbie" Anne Sparshott; children, William Sparshott, Chris Sparshott (Holly), Dee Baldwin (Gary), Karen Porter, Christina Day, Megan Sparshott, and Katie Richards (Wayne); 14 grandchildren; and his in-laws, Phil and Judy Lucier.

Family and friends will be received for Steve's Life Celebration on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 28297 Old Village Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 38888 Dr. Johnson Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659.

Pallbearers will be William Sparshott, Christopher Sparshott, Evan Porter, Zachery Sparshott, Cameron Sparshott, and Kenny Faunce. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Richards, Bobby Staples, Gary Baldwin, Nathan Day, Cody Kidwell, and Kirk Kidwell.
