John Thomas Summers "Pop" 86, of La Plata, MD died on July 10, 2014 in Waldorf, MD.

He was born on July 18, 1927 in Washington, DC to the late John and Mildred Summers. He is also predeceased by his wife Helen I. Summers, daughter Patricia A. Showalter, sister Barbara Collins and 4 great grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons; John T. Summers, Jr., Rob W. Summers, daughters; Judy C. Fink, Pam Murphy, and Cyndy L. Ritter, grandchildren; Amy, April, Ashley, Robyn, Tracy, Christina, Amanda, Missy, John, David, Jimmy, Paul, J.T., and Sammy. He is also survived by 20 great grandchildren.

John loved his job being a Railroad Engineer for Conrail. He also loved his family, fishing, and visiting his friends at McDonalds. He was a wonderful husband and caregiver to his wife Helen.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 15, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata, MD. Where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday July 16, 2014 at 11 AM. Interment to follow at the St. Ignatius Chapel Pt. Cemetery, Port Tobacco, MD.
