Elizabeth "Karen" Toder of Indian Head, MD died on May 14, 2014 at her residence with Hospice. She was 69 years old.

Karen was a postal carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for 30 plus years and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomfret, MD.

She loved being a homemaker and raising her family. She was a foster mother to many, loved her animals, and was known for always helping others.

She is the daughter of the late Albert Jerome Hayden and the late Mary Wilma McGuire Hayden.

She is predeceased by a daughter, Helen Macowelski; two sisters, Theresa Roberts and Patsy Flaherty; and one great-grandchild, Hunter C. Vinson.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Sam Toder; three sons, Sam Toder, Jr., Danny Toder and his wife Janice, and Michael Toder; three daughters, Darlene Toder, Christine Toder, and Carol Luskey and her husband Paul; and one foster son, James Jenkins. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends received on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with a Wake Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. A Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomfret, MD. Pallbearers: Sam Toder Jr., Danny Toder, Paul Luskey, James Jenkins, David Toder, and Shawn Toder. Honorary Pallbearers: Michael Toder, Hayden Toder, Wyatt Toder, Landen Toder, James Jenkins II, and Michael McGill-Jenkins. Interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD.
