Minerva Diggs Taylor, departed this life on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Genesis Nursing Home in La Plata, Maryland. Minerva was born on July 4, 1925, in Rison, Maryland to the late Rachel and Parker Diggs.

Minerva was educated in the Charles County Public School System, and was a lifelong member of Alexandria United Methodist Church in Rison, Maryland. She spent most of her life in Marbury, Maryland.

In addition to her parents, Minerva was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Taylor since October 19, 1992; sisters, Mamie Posey and Helen Diggs and brother, William Diggs and nephew, Franklin Henry.

She is survived by her sister, Florine Turner; nephew, Walter; nieces, Helen Henry-Dotson and Yvonne K. Walton; great-nieces and nephews, Timothy, Maurice, Kelvin, Melvin, Marlene, Charles, Charlotte, Deborah, Jason, Joy, Emiley and Stacey; sister-in-law, Betsey Taylor, special friend, Emma Day and a host of other relatives and friends.

Minerva Diggs and James "Jimmy" Taylor were joined in holy matrimony on April 24, 1946. Jimmy was the owner and operator of Masciel's Tavern where Minerva worked for many years. (in addition to his 31 years at the Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head, Maryland). Minerva loved doing hair and her collection of porcelain dolls. She also had a special skill for knitting and crocheting.

Her viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service, 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment, Alexandria United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rison, Maryland.
