Ellen Barbara Heilmeier, 82, of Waldorf, MD died on February 26, 2014. She was a life long resident of Charles County.

Ellen graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1949 and entered Franklin Square Nursing School in Baltimore and completed her studies with a RN Degree in 1952. She worked at George Washington University Hospital and the Yater Clinic in D.C.

She was a member of Charles County Chamber of Commerce and served on their Board. She is former President of the Humane Society of Charles County, past President of L.A.W. Volunteer Fire Department. Ellen was part owner of ABC Movers, Waldorf Sanitation Company and Waldorf Ice Plant with her former husband, L.O. Heilmeier of 28 years.

She is a life member of the Charles County Women's Club and was voted Maryland Club Woman of the year in 1993 for the offices held and dedication to the community. She was a charter member of Conservancy for Charles County, Board of Director of Izaak Walton League, Southern Maryland Chapter and co-founded the Re-use Barn working to help keep items out of landfill saving the environment.

She is a past Board member of Southern Maryland Resource Conservation and Development and former owner of Waldorf Mailing Service. She was a realtor at Manning Realty for 17 years and with Exit Only Realty for 4 years until the company was sold.

Born October 29, 1931 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Joseph Keller, Sr. and the late Rosina Hartmann Keller.

She is survived by her sons, John Heilmeier, Sr., Steven Heilmeier and wife, Zandra, Robert Heilmeier and wife Christina, all of Waldorf, MD, brothers, Ernest Keller, Jr., and Edwin Keller, grandchildren, John Heilmeier, Jr., Alexzandra, Christian and Robert Heilmeier, II, step-grandchildren, Maria and Jose Rey and great-granddaughter, Jenna Marie Heilmeier.

The family will receive friends for a Memorial Gathering on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 10:00a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 17502 Aquasco Rd., Brandywine, MD 20613.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Ellen's name to St. Michael's Catholic Church.
