Yolande "Dixie" Brown of Bryans Road, Maryland was reunited with her sole-mate on December 8, 2012 and now they can forever hold hands and show affection towards each other. She was 88 years old.

As a Navy wife, she made many friends around the world with whom she kept in contact with. She loved to travel, play bingo and go to Atlantic City. She was not known for her cooking but she could bake with the best of them. Dixie was known throughout Charles County for her 30 plus years as a volunteer of Hospice of Charles County.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Demers of Methuen, Massachusetts; her husband of 68 years, John H. Brown; her sister Jackie; her brothers Donald Demers, Ronald Demers and Richard Tracy.

She is survived by her two sons Eugene Buddy Brown and his wife Sandra, Walter "Bucky" Brown and his wife Cindy; her one daughter Margaret Hamrick and her husband David; her three sisters
Marie Carter, Vi Roy and Jean Longton; her one brother Ray Demers; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Visitation on Monday, December 16, 2013 from 10AM until time of Mass at 11AM at the St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church 30 Mattingly Avenue Indian Head, MD 20640.

A private interment will be held at a later date.
