Mary Geraldine Rothwell was born in Leonardtown, Maryland on July 11, 1946, to the late Lucas W. Butler and late Martha G. Butler. Mary passed away on July 22, 2013.

Mary received her education in the St. Mary's County Public School system, where she excelled academically. She also attended Community College. Mary worked for many years with St. Mary's County Department of Education in accounting, but in recent years was retired.

Mary enjoyed being with family and friends and spent many hours of enjoyment and entertainment with them. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Nothing pleased her more than listening to her children telling her stories about her grandchildren to hear how they drove them crazy as she so fondly remembered her years of raising her own children. She was known as a very fashionable, vibrant, caring, personable, and strong willed woman who displayed the traits one would expect of a woman of character. She faced many life challenges, yet, despite them all, her years of strength and perseverance always brought her through. Giving up was not an option.

Mary truly left a lasting impression on whomever she encountered. Those who knew Mary could not dispute her sincerity and passion for life.

Mary was preceded in death by mother, Martha; father, Lucas and brother, Earl.

Mary leaves to cherish fond memories her loving and devoted family:
children, Venetia, Stephene, Cleve (Crystal), Ricky and Patrick; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; twin sister, Mary; sister, Shirley (William ); brothers, Patrick (Barbara), Lloyd and Lawrence. She leaves to mourn a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family will unite with friends on Saturday, July 27, 2013 for visitation at 10:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Peter Claver Church, 16922 St. Peter Claver Rd., St. Inigoes, MD. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
